Welcome to Walden
Welcome to the Walden Homeowners Association home page. Walden is a community in Orange County on the outskirts of the new city of Rancho Santa Margarita at the very end of Santa Margarita Parkway. Walden’s postal address is Trabuco Canyon, but is not located down in the canyon. It is on a hillside off Plano Trabuco Road, between the communities of Rancho Cielo and Robinson Ranch.
The community of Walden is unique. It is an "out of the way" haven somewhat removed from the bustling Southern California many people wish to escape. Walden is a comparatively small gated community of 113 homes. Upon entering Walden, a pleasant rock waterfall is the first thing you’ll see. Next to the waterfall is a beautiful swimming pool and spa, and beyond lies a natural pond which provides recreational fishing and a “nature preserve” for the enjoyment of residents and guests. Many of the homes within the Walden community are on cul-de-sacs, on single-loaded streets, and enjoy views of the pond, pool, and beyond. On a clear day, some views reach all the way to Santa Catalina Island.
The serenity and rural feeling created within the Walden community is enhanced by the adjacent Saddleback Mountain, part of the Cleveland National Forest, which looms to the East. The proximity to those mountains also affects the weather we enjoy in Walden…hotter in the summer and colder in the winter. Many also enjoy the fact that Walden lies just down the road from the untouched “Old California” canyon, wherein lies the entrance to O’Neill Regional Park with campgrounds and picnic facilities. The park and the canyon also host numerous hiking trails, the subject of many books published about Orange County.
Many residents move from more congested parts of Orange County, and truly appreciate the nature we seem to be closer to!
In addition to being a wonderful place to live, Walden is also a good value financially because:
Walden has one of the lowest tax rates in the area (1.2%).
Walden is not subject to Mello Roos tax.
For those who work and play in other areas of the county, the trip which used to be long has been shortened considerably by the toll roads which extend close to our community.
Finding Walden has been like a breath of fresh air in the lives of our residents, and we thoroughly enjoy everything about our special community.
